Presidential campaign adviser Lara Trump will make an appearance in Columbus Wednesday at a “Keep America Great Again” event. This visit comes a day before President Trump will be hosting his first campaign rally of 2020 in Toledo.
At the event, Lara, the wife of Eric Trump, expects to focus on the economy, WOSU reports.
Lara has recently campaigned for her father-in-law in key battleground states. Last month, she made an appearance in Michigan where she talked about how crazy the Democratic party has become.
“The reality is that [Democratic] party has gotten so out of control,” Lara said. “Everyone in that party is so far left that they’re advocating for things like socialism, full governmental control for every aspect of this country.”
Ohio’s economy has improved since Trump became president. The state’s unemployment rate has decreased from 5.2 percent to 4.2 percent, according to Bureau of Labor statistics.
Ohio Republican Party chair Jane Timken told WOSU that people will be drawn to voting for Trump in 2020 because he has delivered on his promises such as having an “America First” agenda, bringing back jobs and growing the economy.
In addition, Timken said Trump has a bigger campaign presence in Ohio then he previously did four years ago.
“We have almost 20 field staff on the ground and they’ve been on the ground for the most part since the July through the end of the summer,” she said. “And their job, quite frankly, was to connect with voters.”
The Buckeye State is going to play a big role in this year’s presidential election as Trump looks to win the state again. No Republican has become president without winning Ohio. Furthermore, the last president to not win this state and win the White House was John F. Kennedy in 1960.
In 2016, the president defeated Hillary Clinton by only eight percentage points.
